DeleteThe danger is not so much Donald Trump, as it is in the fact there are millions who who follow him. There are no specific programs or answers, merely a variation of "trust me, I can fix it." He is a demagogue with a huge ego and an attention span disorder. What can go wrong?

DeleteHe reminds me of the character The Beast from the comic book Transmetropolitan who is described as; "a big black animal squatting in the heart of America...the thing in us that votes to fuck other people in the gall bladder, the lizard brain that says nothing but eat-kill-hump-shit." As you have observed, the scary thing is there are those who are willing to give into such base urges.

DeleteWhen the Reichstag fire spread to the World Trade Center, I figured we'd have candidates like Trump.
ReplyDeleteThat, the predictable economic downturn, the fact we're diversifying as a country, etc. All things like this bring out the worst in people, and like the Germans with Hitler, some here are buying into the fallacy that a demagogue like Trump can 'lead' them out of it.

I'm afraid I'm played out, WWW. My politics goes back to RFK, I actually worked a small part in his campaign while still in the military, and I even remember as a kid liking "I Like Ike" buttons.
