Still Here

I'm in Portland, staying with my son and wife and now 3 month old granddaughter. They have a nice 100 year old house on a densely-treed neighborhood that has had extensive remodeling over the years.

Nell, the newest granddaughter, is growing like a zucchini in late summer, if that's a apt metaphor...she sits up mostly unaided, and is about the cutest damn thing I've seen.

I may well be driving back to Montana soon, some things there need attending. But meanwhile, life here is good now that fall has arrived.

Last night, Lizz, Nell's mom, made a fish dinner that was one of the best meals I've had in some time.

Hope all are well. I'll try to post more often, but you know how that goes. I'm looking forward to the holidays, I'll be splitting them between Portland, Seattle and possibly Montana.

The Adorable One enters 6th grade.

Hard to believe she's 12....and how much she's grown in the last 6 months. And for comparison, here she is first day of pre-school.

A new addition

II've been the last 3 weeks in Portland, visiting my son Henry, his wife Liz and after 10 days there, a new addition to the family.

Eleanor Teresa

Thus far she sleeps, eats, poops, repeat. Already I can tell she is smart as a whip; she's got her dad wrapped around her little finger.

Vaccine #2

Got the second poke yesterday late afternoon....15 hours later arm is slightly tender to the touch, no other side effects at all...so far. Only advantage to getting up there in years is side effects tend to be less than younger people. Our immune system is less effective than younger folk. It might be a two-edge sword...it's unknown if our system is then less protected. Oh well, guess we'll see. In the meantime and for the foreseeable future it's mask, distancing, etc.

Day after first dose.

Mildly tender to the touch at injection site, nothing else. So no worries, folks. Hope you all can get yours asap. My 2nd is scheduled for 24 days.

Semi-throwback Thursday

Taken maybe 12-15 years ago, my buddies dog Ellie telling me to get up and grab my rod, enough of the sitting.

75 today, there was a time I didn't think I'd make it to 21, but here I am, for better or worse.

Since it's my three quarters of a century day, I threw caution to the winds and had chorizo and eggs for breakfast.
