And to think.........

That I once thought the phrase "Old, grey and in the way" was just a saying I'd use as a joke. Silly me.

And I'd live to hear this song from two different ways, as someone who was metaphorically singing it, and someone it's be sung to:

  1. Funny that, I had a similar ponder the other day as I tried to buy a onnnection for a Bose speaker and I could just tell the thoughts of the staff. Similar to mine in the day. Karma, she be a _______

    1. "...and time slowly, slips away." Willie N., I think, or at least a paraphrase

  2. Intense times, indeed. I believe we can play by the rules of morality and become a decent and fair society. The young and the disenfranchised seem to be singing the song; it's been in the air to be heard all the years the rest of us became old and grey, on the way.

    1. Seems it might be a tad more complicated, but yeah, that'd be great.

  3. I am so lucky to have reached old age, however, the times, they are a changin’ and I never expected all this crap.

    1. When I was 20 I never expected to reach 22, but yet, here we are, and why should we expect that we could forecast the future?

  4. Yeah, things start to pass me by. Brian Wilson had an album called "I Just Wasn't Made for These Times," and I can relate with the sentiment.

  6. What goes around, comes around, I guess. I think that every time I look in the mirror. I think our life experience has some value even if there are some who don't believe it.

    1. Sometimes we're told otherwise....hence the 'old, grey and in the way.' I don't know what to think, frankly. I try to not think in a global sense and all, just did my life make a difference to a couple people, my kids and a few friends. Hope it did.

  7. That Quest video is from a TV show. It is ironically so not Bob Dylan. But, it was exposure, and that was his goal. In the beginning it was Dylan and the guitar and the harmonica. The men in the background are being sung to, too, and not much interested.
    Take care.

    1. Been following Dylan since '65, and I've found just when one can say with confidence "it is so.....not Dylan", he trips you up and does just what you say he ain't. Witness his christian period, etc. He is who he is, and I'm not sure even he knows who that is.

    2. This is earlier than 65, back when he didn't know, but was working toward it. He hung out in bars in the Village, asking other musicians their opinions of his work. That's when I saw him, in 61.

  8. I have a Friday Funny I haven't used yet. It says "I always knew I'd get old. How fast it happened was a bit of a surprise, though." Still I keep telling some of my longtime friends how surprised I was that we got past 30 and then four more decades and bearing down on a fifth. Baseball Steve says "I never thought I'd be sleeping with a woman in her 70's!" Ye-gods!

    1. Ok, that comment of Steve's was funny. Let's not let it out there in the sphere, least we find ourselves on a slow iceberg to nowhere.
