Back, somewhat

A couple Sundays ago, I tried to log in to my account, could not, then found all my posts for the last several years were gone. Finito, apparently, or so Google says.

I'm not sure if I'll continue here, not clear what the point is unless it's because I want to, and that's still up in the air.

Anyway, it's been coolish here, two mornings ago at 8am it was zero on the back porch. Kept the St. Paddy's day celebrants inside at least.

I'm still working on recovering the hundred or more posts, I'm told there is some hope, so we'll see.

  3. Oh no! Shocked to read this, someone might have hacked into your account? That is awful. I wonder if a blog can be backed up? Never did check that.

good luck Mike, I so enjoy your posts.

  4. I'm sorry. Please share your insights if you learn how it happened, or how to recover. No time's a good time, but this year is a bad time to lose you.

  5. Hi Mike-it's interesting that I can go back in my Wordpress reader and see your previous posts just fine. If I click on them to link to your web page, they disappear.

  6. That's awful, Mike. And I do hope you continue here even if the old posts are lost.

  7. Well, I'm glad to hear from you. Luck on recovering the lost posts. We had a five day snow here, although, it only amounted to about five inches. Unfortunately, Sabina broke her toe, so no snowshoeing. Instead, we intend to roadtrip.

    1. Thanks, Robbie. Yeah, had a total of about the same, but not cold enough for it to stick until St. P's day.

  8. Are your River and Roadtrip posts missing, as well?

If they are okay, and only Genial Misanthrope are lost, I wonder if one of the politicians you've skewered might have had them removed? I know such a thing is possible.

On the other hand, it might have been the same Google-worm that 'disappeared' Susan's (Phantsythat) posts.

Regardless, I hope you can recover them.

    1. Yes, all gone. I do remember the River stories, though not sure they are anywhere else.

  9. I had the same problem with Blogger which is why I left and created a new site with a private server. It doesn't work as well as Blogger and i have to pay for it, but nothing gets changed without my permission.

  11. Google has effed around with my sign in, account name, password, etc. Wordpress did the same from the get go. Maybe there is a better host somewhere.
Getting above freezing here almost every day! Woohoo!
