A Long Time Ago

Anne, (now Kate), sitting in her mom's lap. 1977 I think. At three years old, quite proud of being able to read a book to her mom.

I had thought about putting some caption, explanation, homily, whatever. Whatever few words can encapsulate a life? It's better left to your imagination, the life, love, happiness and grief. It's probably not much different than yours.

Cary and Anne, decades ago.

    2. I do. One, in particular, is on my fridge and makes me smile every day. It's a photo of my mother and her two sisters in their younger days. She and one of the sisters have passed, but I like seeing the all together every day.

  5. Oh, that's lovely. It's a very tender photo. Bittersweet, I imagine.

    1. To a degree, yes. The bitter gets less over time, the sweeter seems to stay longer.

    1. I wonder, Bruce. Try as I may, I don't remember this picture, perhaps I took it. It looks like maybe a holiday, and that might be Cary's mom in the background, behind Anne. I know it captures Cary's love for Anne, and her expressive hands.
I think it'll be gone around the same time our bodies are absorbed by the world around us, all iterations of carbon. Perhaps that's as it should be.

  7. I enjoy looking at other people's old family photos. I don't need, or want them telling a story for each photo. My imagination can tell me all I need. Maybe I like them so much because there were so few photos ever taken in our family.

  8. Getting caught up Mike on a cold morning on the Edge with guests coming downstairs shortly for breakfast. This brought tears to my eyes. How many list moments such as these?
