Earlier, in a post some damn place, maybe facebook, I said that I, we, my generation had little to offer the current youngun's on what to do.  It occurs to me I do have an inspirational song for them. Here tis:

  1. Mike, this beautifully loud, showy and exuberant number from a half-century ago pins progress to the present as effectively now as it did then. It's a perfect selection. Thank you!

  2. You rattled some memories with your "time" machine. Could it really have been that long ago? !!!

    1. Some of the things that shape me now occurred over 50 years ago, Tom. Seems a long time for a year or two to shape decades.

  3. I did not remember this excellent choice. Youth, enthusiasm. Loud. Time. It can work again.

    2. A little more genial, a little less misanthrope, if please.

  4. I disagree. There are many in our generation that have given their all, that have fought the good fight, that have loved this earth. Each generation has good and bad.

    1. Yes, I know. I was there too. Things are better now because of things we did. And maybe even the #metoo might be there because of the women of our generation like you and my wife, Cary.
Not sure what exactly you're disagreeing on, m'lady. I remember resounding victories with Humphry, McGovern, Kennedy et.al. ......or am I misremembering history.

  5. Someone once said "the more things change the more they stay the same". Can't remember who.

  6. One of my favorite songs ever. It really fits these days. Also on that album (and fitting) is the song People Get Ready. Loved that one also. Thanks for posting this Mike.
