Anyway, we're fourth in size, and 44th in population. Haven't hit a million yet.
So we have these big forests, National Forests, that might be bigger than your state, depending. And we are a bit scattered, outside the huge (Yuge!) urban centers, like Billings, not quite 250.000 the largest, and Miles city, closing in on 10K.
We get fires, forest fires. There is a lot of room for them to start undetected, by lightening strike, and not be detected for hours or even days, with the loss of the fire lookouts on the lookouts.
