A Sunday drive

My friend L. is in town, escaping the heat of SoCal. We went for a drive today, into the Highland mtns south of Butte.

A dirt road, leading up to the 10K mountains and beyond.  The air was so redolent of pine, with the new growth putting out their sap and aroma.  Why I live here.

  1. I have taken those walks before and they are lovely, indeed.

  2. Beautiful photos, Mike. Pumphouse thermometer read 110 here so I stayed cooped up. High elevation trees reaching for the sky are a refreshing sight. Thank you!

    1. No smell like a pine forest on a warm day. Makes me feel like I'm 10 years old and back in Bend.

  4. With the heat and humidity many of us are suffering through, we envy you and your cool, lovely drive into the mountains.

  5. Love country like that. Especially the overlook in the last photo. You can tell your friend that it is still HOT here.
    Nice photos Mike.

    1. Yeah, just looked at the forecasts for Ladera Ranch and here, a little warmer during the day there, and a whole lot warmer at night. 80f is bearable when it drops to 45 at night.

  6. I love pretty much every sort of natural place, regardless of what sort of plants grow there.
