Montana Summer 2016

Does it seem weird to anyone else to be putting in the date of '2016'.....???? WTF are the personal jet packs?? You bastards promised them, remember? And the Jetson cars, etc.

Anyway, health has been weirdly good the last couple days, so I went out this morning fishing, a couple streams less than a half hour from here:

Nice stream, a section of a well known river near here, but oddly rarely visited. I caught two nice brookies there this morning. Here's the first:

About 12 inches, kept two, going to have for dinner tomorrow. Tonight is BLT's.

Back in Butte, life back in the slow lane.

Cheers,
Mike

  1. We're more than half-way to 2017 now. I'm still waiting for my flying car.

  3. Beautiful, just beautiful...both the fish and the stream it rode in on.

Glad you're back in the slow lane, Mike.

    1. Thanks, you've got trout in your area too, Stephen. Try the Upper Santiam or even the McKenzie.

  6. Wonderful. Love those brook trout and have not had any for many years after I moved out of Colorado. They always bring memories of my dad.

  7. I used to have trout amandine at a restaurant in Sedona but the restaurant became an art gallery many years ago and I haven't had trout since.

    1. I think alder smoked, cold temp smoked, is the best. followed by flour coated fried in hot bacon grease.

    1. Health, as a profession, has taught me that sometimes we don't have a clue as to how it will all turn out. This gives me solace, if not confidence, to put on waders and boots, and ease out into a river, feeling for rocks and current.
      Cheers,
      Mike

  9. The photo is gorgeous and inspiring. It looks so cool and pristine - in stark contrast to the hot, humid summers down here in the south.

I NEVER got used to the years ever since 2000. It seems like something out of science fiction.
    No Jetson cars (thank goodness).

    1. I've spent a bit of time in summers in your general area, Jon. I don't care for it, the humidity, one bit. it's been warming up in the days, up to the high 80's, but down to 45 at night.
      Hope you're well.

Note please my restraint, from the many, oh let's count the ways, many responses to the comment. I'm beside myself here with how pleased I an, plus remindful that my daughters read this....
Now, a '12 inch trout provides two excellent fillets, and I usually pair them with something like a poach egg, with asparagus on the side.
      Cheers,
      Mike
