My friend L. is in town, escaping the heat of SoCal. We went for a drive today, into the Highland mtns south of Butte.
A dirt road, leading up to the 10K mountains and beyond. The air was so redolent of pine, with the new growth putting out their sap and aroma. Why I live here.
Beautiful photos, Mike. Pumphouse thermometer read 110 here so I stayed cooped up. High elevation trees reaching for the sky are a refreshing sight. Thank you!
Yeah, just looked at the forecasts for Ladera Ranch and here, a little warmer during the day there, and a whole lot warmer at night. 80f is bearable when it drops to 45 at night.
I have taken those walks before and they are lovely, indeed.
ReplyDeleteYep, the only noise the wind in the trees.

ReplyDelete110....jeezus. Ain't right for anywhere near the Bay Area.
DeleteI can almost smell that pine. Beautiful setting.
ReplyDeleteNo smell like a pine forest on a warm day. Makes me feel like I'm 10 years old and back in Bend.
DeleteWith the heat and humidity many of us are suffering through, we envy you and your cool, lovely drive into the mountains.
ReplyDeleteIt's a benefit, for sure.
DeleteLove country like that. Especially the overlook in the last photo. You can tell your friend that it is still HOT here.
ReplyDeleteNice photos Mike.
