Ah, Spring

Or what passes for it at 6,000 ft in the northern Rockies:

    1. Up to a point, yeah. However, my yard has had snow since early November, and won't melt for at least another month.

  2. I'm so sorry. That looks horrible this time of year. I wish I could send you a little bit of our wonderful spring weather. Here in SC it's only mildly chilly at night and the dogwoods, wisteria, and early azaleas are blooming.

How much longer before you get real spring weather, Mike?

    1. Varies, Butte has a lot of lilacs, and they usually bloom mid-june. Some flowers will start to appear in mid-May. However, we only have around 50 frost-free days a year, and usually get our first snow in Sept, the last early June.

  3. Nice day here yesterday, but we are expecting freezing rain today.

  4. Pretty. But makes me think I'd just want to sit by a fire with hot soup and a warming adult beverage.

    1. Oddly, there is a local distillery, Headframe Spirits (a headframe is the steel structure above ground that raised and lowered people and ore to the mines below), that makes an excellent whiskey and spices, just right for an evening of wishing for spring.

  5. Don't be misled by appearances, Mike. There's subnivean doings afoot --or rather, underfoot. Spring is busy down there.

    1. That was many years ago, Bruce. My tolerance for minus 30 has lessened over the decades. And the summer's (July, August) are beautiful.
