Spring

I just got back to Butte Monday after 2 weeks in Seattle and environs. A long drive, I now break it up into two days, usually staying near or in Idaho.

It's quite a contrast, Seattle and  Butte at this time of year.  Seattle is in the beginning of Summer,  there was a day of 84f while I was there. The high yesterday in Butte was 40, with showers of rain mixed with snow.  The grass is green, no flowers are up yet, and only  some of the trees are starting to show leaves. My big lilac bush  out back is starting to show green leaves. The flower groups  will bloom mid-June.

Kids and Grands are fine, Fiona finally started putting on weight, in the last couple months she's gained 5 lbs, more than she's gained in two years. Will post pics of her later.

Hope this finds all of you well and prospering.

  1. Good news about Fiona. Enjoy your spring-obviously it is a delayed pleasure in the mountains. Some of the Sierra got hit with more snow at the end of the week. We've had another inch and half of rain in May, quite unusual.
    Be well.

    1. It's telling that despite the higher than usual snowfall during the winter in the cascades, over half of WA is considered to be in danger of severe drought this summer.

  4. What?! No snow? I thought spring didn't arrive in the mountains until June. Oh, wait...this must be what an early spring in Butte looks like. Looking forward to pics of Fiona - and the lilac! Glad you made it back home.

    1. Oh, the snow isn't over, Martha. We'll still get a few snowfalls, usually the last is in early June. Won't stick, just a reminder that it's never more than a couple months away.

  5. It's greening up nicely here, and it's nice to look at spring green leaves. You know, the fresh ones, before the dust and heat of summer change them.
Good for Fiona; looking forward to pictures of her.

    1. Glad we don't get bad summer heat (so far), most days are high 70's, occasional 90. It always cools off at night, dropping 30 degrees or more. It's the altitude, we're at 6K feet.

    1. We occasionally hit 90 here, but it's never muggy. And at 6,000 ft it cools to 50 at night.
