Still in LA, gradually getting ready to take off next week for Rome. Thankfully the cruise company no longer 'requires' formal evening wear for some of the dinners. So a sports jacket and khaki pants will suffice. They still say no jeans at dinner, which is odd to my mind. If one is shelling out a months salary they should be able to wear whatever they want (short of birkenstocks, of course).
It's been unbelievably hot here, it's mid-October, right? It was 98f in the backyard here, and it's only about a half mile from the beach. It should be low 70's.
I should be able to post along the way, initially we're in Rome overnight, ending up with two nights in Lisbon.. If not, the pictures will come along eventually.
Cheers
The way you speak of doing dinners for this reminds of a line from The Spanish Prisoner;
ReplyDelete"Beware all endeavors that require new clothes"
I hadn't heard that one, Robbie, but it's damn good advise.
DeleteENJOY your cruise! They won't be able to throw you off the boat even if you are wearing Birkenstocks! :)
ReplyDeleteSo that plank in the brochure is just for show?
DeleteSafe journey
ReplyDeleteThanks John. So you're getting yet another dog? Shouldn't you balance the menagerie with a goat or something?
DeleteHave a wonderful trip!
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteI actually am glad they make folks look nicer for dinner. I live in a casual world and can pretend I am in a fancier world for a short time. NOT formal wear, as that really contradicts the reason for a vacation, but glad not to see someone in a Tshirt a jeans across from me as they bring the fancy food.
ReplyDeletei'm partial to Hawaiian shirts and cut-offs........
DeleteOr a ball cap. Nothing makes me more irritated than someone in a restaurant wearing a ball cap.
ReplyDeleteHow'd you know what I always wear to dinner?
DeleteI hope you enjoy all the best of a wonderful holiday, Mike.
ReplyDeleteps: No Speedos allowed either.
There go my plans for St. Tropez.....
DeletePost pics when you get some!
ReplyDeleteIt'll be about a week from now, if all goes well.
DeleteLooking forward to pics from Rome...
ReplyDeleteA dress code is enough to make me never take a cruise. Speaking of the hot weather here, it's been like this for about 9 months. Today it finally cold and rainy.
