A bit of snow.....

It was snowing lightly when I got up this morning, looked outside and almost called the police. My truck was gone from it's usual post. Then I remembered it was at Mick's, getting the 4WD fixed. The space quickly filled in with snow.

Picked up the truck, came back and waited in vain for the snow to stop.

Slowly the temp dropped, the above was taken a few hours ago when it was still light, dark is around 5pm now. The snow finally stopped an hour ago.

So the season of the year approaches. I haven't decorated, nor will I....with the kids over on the coast, and my local friends mostly Jewish or Pagan, I don't have the urge for a tree, much as I like the smell.

We have about a foot of snow the last day or so, and more expected Friday. Sounds like winter is here.

  1. No snow here. Last year, and just about every other year, we've been knee deep. And it's warm too. Crazy warm for Ottawa region.

  3. We never got above fifteen here. Heavy puffy weather whilst running errands and laundry. Yesterday, I was first tracks on the Argentine trail, and, in some places, it was nearly two feet. Glorious.

Possible snow tonight, only maybe a few inches. Then Sunday through Friday it's supposed to snow almost continuously. Since Sabina's birthday is the day after some other odd December holiday, and the moon will be one day past full, we're looking at doing a full moon snowshoe.

Looking forward to the solstice myself. The days start getting longer again.

    1. Yeah, it didn't top 9 here today (Thursday), but wasn't lower than minus 10 last night.
I think we got a foot or so total in the last few days...supposed to get more through the weekend, unclear how much.
I really don't notice the solstice that much, at least until March.

    1. Does your town have a Christmas Market, Steve? You should post some pictures in your blog.

    2. It is too small for a Xmas Market. Sorry.

  5. I'm counting on El Nino and an open winter, damn the extra bugs next year. Only a week until the daylight turns.

    1. October was my lowest power(heat, etc) bill this year. It was weird, starting this late.

  7. Bring some evergreen branches inside and you will have that lovely winter holiday smell. You can even add a decoration or two and that will brighten the room and take not time at all.

    1. Yeah, good idea probably. I may try it later this week, if the mood strikes.

  8. The temperatures finally dropped a little and we got some barely-discernable flurries yesterday. It's back up in the high 40's today, though
