Today on a drive over the Pintlar Mtns, just west of here, one of the many ranges of the Northern Rockies. It rained much of the day yesterday at 6000 ft, but at higher elevations it got it's first real snow. We're discounting the snow in late July as the last snow of last year. This is the first of this year. It may seem like quibbling to you, but when you live here it's an issue of some import.
Fall is here, the forecasted high for the next week is under 65, and the low reaches down to 28. Winter isn't here, but it's waving just over the hill.
Such a long way away. Our summer is still hot and dry even though the days are shrinking in length visibly.
ReplyDeleteBrrrr. Still in the 80's here and that hurricane plaguing Baja isn't likely to bring us any rain either.
ReplyDeleteI'm envious as I miss that high-country weather.
ReplyDeleteThat big sky, wide expanse high country is extraordinary. The mountains are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI finally picked out the dusting. We are in our 28 or 9th day of 90 degree weather. Getting old. Fortunately, it is pouring rain this moment, before the mercury climbs.
ReplyDeleteWe're supposed to maybe get snow around ten-thousand early next week.
ReplyDeleteHere in California, all thermometers start at 100 degrees F. It's all they sell anymore.
ReplyDeleteNo Indian Summer? Or was that in August?
