I guess I've been an out of touch idiot

Just how many of you motherfuckers are out there????? The latest headline from the Oregonion:

Oregon senator accused of inappropriate touching says he's innocent; women disagree

Mother of effing god. Even with two daughters, I didn't grasp the pervasiveness of the issue. I guess I'm the epitome of how this got 'overlooked', not reported, etc. I'm so sorry.

I wish I'd been more cognizant. More aware, some damn thing. I'm sorry, day late and dollar short.

  1. It is not anything new. Most women have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace and remained silent.

    1. As we find out, at least we males, it's much to my sorrow and embarrassment, and....I don't know the rest.

  2. You can't assume all the guilt. On the whole, we dealt with it. Consider, were it not for Trump, it might still be a secret. What an irony that such a clown could mobilize so many.

  3. No worries, Mike. I agree with Joanne. It is what it is and it is so ironic that this is happening now when we have a sexual predator as president.

    1. Apparently, though he's the most blatant, for once he is not yet the worst. Give him time, though...

  5. And one more thing...
back in the day we overstayed in the bar and ran like hell to get a plane, I couldn't object to Frank or John or Bob or whoever with a hand to my back, speeding us down the concourse. Though, in sneakers, not heels, I probably would have come in first.

  6. Harvey Weinstein's serial and historic abuses have led to something helpful. Women are speaking about what they've suffered and endured.
#metoo is a cathartic revelation and I suspect more abusers will be brought low, by truth.

  7. I guess I've been out of touch too, Mike. Didn't these predators have mothers, dads and other good examples of humanity to follow out of beasthood? When we were young, we were taught to treat women with respect --in traditional courtesy the lady is considered the social superior of gentlemen. Where were these guys when we were learning our manners?

  8. I think even the good feminist men, like you, have probably been unaware of the pervasiveness of sexual assault and harassment in part because it gets downplayed and in part because we (women) have been too afraid or ashamed or intimidated to speak up. And now we're speaking up. Men's part, I think, is to speak up on behalf of women. To call out their brethren when they are being sexist or assaultive. To stand in solidarity with women and say "no more."

  9. Can't count the number of times, Mike. It's pervasive and ugly and abusive. Men need to speak up. On behalf of women everywhere and not just their relatives.

And the courts get serious. So many men walk.
